3rd Prize for Team Singapore at J/Boats Asia International Invitational Regatta in Xiamen
Four keen CSC sailing members joined forces to make up a Singapore team sailing in winds of 15-20 knots and calm waters in beautiful Wu Yuan Bay, Xiamen 7-9 November 2008. Teams from Hong Kong, China, USA, Philippines, Taiwan, France, Belgium, Australia and Singapore were introduced to J/80 sportsboat sailing. It was a close series with no discards which kept the racing exciting, the final result being unknown until the end of the last race. As well as the sailing, we were at the inaugural Xiamen Boat Show, met boatbuilders and visited factories. Wonderful hospitality from all concerned. Jeff Brown, President of J/Boats Asia, sees J/World in Xiamen as a significant start to the future of sailing in China and the growth of the J/80 Class in Asia.

ELAN 340 A FAVOURITE FOR BOAT ASIA 2007
The Elan 340 will be on the water at Boat Asia 2007. You can view this brand new hi-tech design performance cruiser/racer 19-22 April. Advance bookings for a private viewing of the Elan 340 at Boat Asia 2007 can be made through "Prebook a Private Viewing" www.boat-asia.com You will receive confirmation of your allocated time from HowisonMarine who look forward to meeting you and discussing your sailing requirements in detail. Following the London Boat Show, Matthew Sheehan wrote of the Elan 340 in Yachting World's February 2007 edition "Once you have saild her, you won't forget her. Whether you're ghosting along in sub ten knots of breeze or pressing to weather in 20, the Elan 340 is beautifully light and balanced on the helm. Unlike so many modern wheel-steered boats, there is no slack or give in her steering system and friction or drag to mute her feel." "Assessing a boat's overall lines and the practicality of her accommodation is largely a personal affair and a Boat Show is as good a place as any to get up close. But what will she really be like under way? How will she handle, how will she feel and just how inviting will the interior be when she's heeled....?" "Under sail the Elan took us by surprise - light, responsive and more fun to sail than many boats twice her size." Posted by hmarine on Saturday, 7 April, 2007 Back to Front page |

There was some close sailing with starts off Changi Sailing Club for the spectators, a three hour race around the Island of Ubin on Saturday and a short passage race to the Johor River estuary followed by three windward/leeward races on Sunday. Moderate breezes of 10-15 knots ensured almost perfect sailing conditions for a fleet of 20 yachts which included a good turnout from Changi's fleet of beach catamarans.
